The Playful Pear at Glastonbury: A Vivienne Westwood Commission for Doechii

Sometimes an email lands in your inbox that you have to read twice.

One day, I received an email from the Vivienne Westwood team asking me to make a selection of pasties featuring the iconic orb.

They had an idea of what they wanted, and my job was to bring it to life.

I was, obviously, very excited.

Not only was I making something for Vivienne Westwood, one of the most iconic British fashion houses, but the pasties were being made for Doechii and her Glastonbury performance.

And then it got even more surreal.

I was invited to attend the rehearsal and costume fitting in person, where I got to see the pieces as part of the full look.

Seeing something I had made by hand become part of a Vivienne Westwood look for Glastonbury was one of those moments where you have to stop and think, how is this actually my job?

The Orb

The brief was to transform the Vivienne Westwood orb into a pair of pasties.

I created several versions, experimenting with different finishes and combinations of rhinestones and embellishment before the final pieces were chosen.

Each one was made by hand, using carefully selected glass rhinestones and intricate embellishment to recreate the familiar shape and detail of the orb.

The finished pasties became part of Doechii's Vivienne Westwood look for her Glastonbury headline performance in June 2025.

The look went on to appear across fashion press, news coverage and social media, including Vogue and Marie Claire.

And somewhere in all of that was a little piece of The Playful Pear.

Made by hand

As exciting as the commission was, the process itself wasn't any different from the way I make everything else.

I use high-quality materials and take the time to place each element carefully and precisely. Every rhinestone is selected and set by hand, with the same attention to detail whether I'm making a bespoke commission or a piece for the stage at Glastonbury.

That's something I really value about my work.

A piece might end up on one of the biggest stages in the world, but it still starts in my studio, with me sitting down and making it by hand.

And honestly?
